On Saturday, the New York Mets clinched a postseason berth. Their reward? Madison Bumgarner and his even-year specialists, the San Francisco Giants, in the single-game elimination NL Wildcard. The winner of which also earns the right to then face the 102-win, 108-year-miserable Chicago Cubs.
As I’ve discussed on this podcast many times, the Mets are my adopted baseball team of choice, and I’m glad to share a little pre-playoff joy with my friend, the novelist and Met/Yank fan Bruce Bauman.
